Meet Dr. Shyam Patel & CIRM
Dr. Shyam Patel is Senior Director of Business Development and Alliance Management at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). He manages the strategic alliances and helps the 140+ programs in their portfolio secure industry partnerships to accelerate clinical and commercial development of their transformative therapies. He is an experienced entrepreneur and bioengineer with a strong passion for regenerative medicine, cell and gene therapies. His career has spanned startups, academia, and government service.
CIRM, California’s stem cell agency, solicits proposals for stem cell related R&D and funds research, training, and new facilities throughout the state of California. The ultimate goal of CIRM’s programs is to fast-track stem cell treatments to patients with unmet medical needs. By promoting and encouraging the growth of the stem cell biotechnology sector, the agency is also helping attract the best scientists to the state and establishing California as a global leader in stem cell research.
